Aston Martin used Monterey, California, on 14 August 2026 to introduce Valen, the newest V12 special to emerge from the company's bespoke service, Q by Aston Martin, joining a line that already includes Valour, Valiant, and DBR22. The name comes from the Latin word valens, its etymology referencing strong or powerful, chosen to continue the long-standing dynasty of Aston Martin V-names and to carry the weight of what the company describes as the world's most powerful front-engined production car from a manufacturer, and the most powerful front-engined Aston Martin built in the company's 113-year history.
The project was realised through Aston Martin's newly formed Special Vehicle Operations department, working in tandem with Q by Aston Martin's bespoke arm. Aston Martin CEO Adrian Hallmark framed Valen within that lineage directly: "The latest in a bloodline of limited production special series models from our bespoke service, Q by Aston Martin, Valen's world-beating performance required a design to capture the raw motion and unmatched output of our V12 powertrain. With more power, less weight, and a spectacular soundtrack, the dramatic design is backed up by equally dramatic performance."
At the center of that performance sits Aston Martin's most powerful version yet of its 5.2-litre twin-turbocharged V12, delivering 850PS and 1000Nm of torque from just 2500rpm. Power reaches the road through a sharper-shifting eight-speed ZF transmission that borrows race-proven shift strategies developed for Aston Martin's Vantage GT4 programme, crisper and more engaging across every drive mode, bringing the 0-60mph time down to 3.0 seconds and an electronically limited top speed of 214mph. Aston Martin Director of Vehicle Performance Simon Newton called the project a satisfying one: "When your basis for a project is the world's most powerful front-engined production car you know you're going to have fun. Valen channels the more overt dynamic purpose of a true sportscar and amplifies that energy and focus to further unleash Valen's potential." Three drive modes, Sport, Sport+ and Track, each carry their own throttle character: Sport and Sport+ use a shorter pedal map that delivers more throttle earlier in its travel for spirited road use, while Track trades that urgency for a longer, more progressive map suited to on-limit precision.
Weight came out wherever the engineering allowed it, with Valen shedding up to 110kg against Aston Martin's existing core V12 platform through carbon fibre, aluminium, titanium and magnesium construction. An optional lightweight pack, built around machined-from-solid aluminium suspension arms and knuckles together with titanium chassis bolts, accounts for 16.9kg of that saving on its own. New magnesium wheels are fitted as standard to cut unsprung mass, wrapped in tyres developed specifically for Valen: Aston Martin-tuned Pirelli P Zero R in 275/35 ZR21 front and 325/30 ZR21 rear, or P Zero Winter 2 in 275/35 R21 front and 325/30 R21 rear. Those tyres also carry Pirelli's Cyber Tyre technology, developed in conjunction with Bosch Engineering and fully integrated into the car's digital architecture, sharing real-time tyre data that lets the ESP, ABS and traction control systems continuously adapt their thresholds.
Hardware and software calibration were pushed in tandem across the ESP, dampers, steering, cambers and braking system to give Valen what the company calls a unique dynamic signature, sharpening response without sacrificing the compliance a car meant for long journeys still needs. Focused front and rear lateral stiffness sharpens direction changes, while reduced roll and pitch lift the sense of agility over the core V12 platform without erasing a playful handling balance. Steering effort was tuned specifically for response, aiming to make Valen feel like a shorter and lighter car than it is, while a solid-mounted rear subframe, model-specific springs and helper springs, and Bilstein DTX semi-active dampers manage the physical side of that connection. Braking comes from 410mm front and 360mm rear carbon ceramic discs, with a brake booster tuned to hold a firm pedal for precise modulation at both high and low speeds.
Sound was treated as its own engineering discipline. Valen's titanium exhaust, developed specifically for the car, uses new micro mufflers to meet homologation rules while cutting weight, arranged into a quad-pipe layout split between two upper and two lower outlets finished in 3D-printed titanium. The upper exits stay open at all times while the lower pair are valved according to drive mode, and the whole system was tuned to reduce lower frequencies while amplifying higher tones, the upper outlets voiced akin to organ pipes to generate resonance as engine speed climbs.
Aston Martin EVP and Chief Creative Officer Marek Reichman described Valen's design as a deliberate departure: "Valen gave us the opportunity to explore and express more extreme emotions through a new form language and surface treatment. As such, Valen is a significant departure from what has gone before; sharply sculpted lines to reflect the aggressive dynamics, an attacking stance that emphasises the front-engine rear-drive layout and a bespoke interior design that creates a more sporting cockpit environment." At the front, deeply recessed slimline headlamps hood beneath a plunging bonnet line, joined by an angular radiator aperture, a geometric mesh grille and a sharply angled front splitter. A single top vent with trailing-edge perforations sits on the bonnet itself, while the traditional side strake has been sharpened and elongated into a functional vent that pulls air from the wheel arch down the flanks, running almost the full length of the door before the rear haunches swell to cover the wheels. Likewise the lower body carries a stepped sill creating a cinched waistline, with saw-tooth vortex generators along its trailing edge pulling high-speed air from beneath the car, and new side-glass quarter windows adding a further identifying detail to the profile.
At the rear, a solid tailgate replaces the usual fixed window and trunk lid combination, built with an aerodynamic wing in its upper section and opening onto a 170-litre trunk that can be specified with a bespoke luggage set through the optional Touring Pack, complete with a soft tailored cover to protect paintwork while loading. A full-width light bar beneath the upswept tail doubles as a Gurney flap, generating downforce without the drag or visual weight of a motorsport-style wing, with a perforated panel below it venting heat from around the exhaust and a pair of high-set tailpipes positioned above the rising rear diffuser. The show car itself wears a Q Ultra-developed finish called Satin Andromeda Red, its Chromaflair pigments blending deep red, copper and gold that shift toward blue undertones depending on light and angle.
Valen's body is coach-built in carbon fibre, and buyers can specify a fully exposed carbon fibre exterior with a herringbone weave running down the car's centre, tintable in a variety of colours in either satin or gloss finish, with the option to work directly with the Q by Aston Martin team to develop a bespoke tint. Inside, the theme of visual lightness continues through a slim centre console enabled by 3D-printed components and built around the performance-focused switchpack first introduced on Valhalla, angled toward the driver for a more focused cockpit. Buyers choose between newly developed Sports Plus seats or lightweight carbon fibre performance seats, then work through a trim hierarchy that starts with a choice between Semi-Aniline Leather paired with Alcantara or full Semi-Aniline Leather, followed by five material splits named Monotone, Duotone, Light Duotone, Tritone and Driver Focused, with the new quilting treatment extending from door panels and seats at entry level up to doors, seats and headlining at the top tier. A driver-focused option highlights the driver's seat specifically, and an accent pack adds contrast colour detailing on top of that. 3D-printed elements echoing Valkyrie and DBS Zagato appear throughout the cabin, referencing the exterior's cooling vents, while the centre console borrows further elements from Valhalla and tilts its central touchscreen at a steeper angle, and a new palette of anodising colours extends the personalisation options further still.
Production of Aston Martin's most powerful front-engined V12 supercar is strictly limited to 150 examples worldwide, with first deliveries scheduled for the second quarter of 2027. What started in Monterey as an introduction of raw numbers, a V12 at 850PS, a name borrowed from the Latin for strength, ends as a car built to carry that name through Aston Martin's own record book for the front-engined breed.
