The Mod 01 Isigo was a concept vehicle created by Tria Design Srl, a company founded in 1986 in the Como region of Italy. The project was intended to attract potential investors or partners for series production. Tria Design also developed accessories for the automotive and motorcycle industries, including a tailgate replacement called Oasis for the Fiat Croma that converted it into a station wagon.
The Mod 01 was conceived as a prototype for a small, partially off-road-capable microcar designed to accommodate different body configurations. As shown, it had no doors and no roof, and its detailing reflected the work of skilled designers. Its structure was built on a frame of square-section tubing that rose to the dashboard and connected at the rear to a roll-over protection structure. The drivetrain sat ahead of the front axle in a subframe secured by four bolts, using a Lombardini unit with continuously variable automatic transmission. Four engine options were considered: two-cylinder petrol or diesel units of 500 cc, and three-cylinder petrol or diesel units of 900 cc. The wheels were independently suspended and relatively large for the car's size.
With a plastic body, a length of 260 cm and a width of 147 cm, the Mod 01 was seen by its creators as suitable both for remote or coastal regions and as an ideal city car. An electric drivetrain was also under consideration. The example built used a two-cylinder Lombardini diesel engine of 500 cc producing 23 hp, paired with an automatic transmission, and weighed 400 kg.
