The Profil was a mid-engined sports coupe concept built by CDA (Concept & Développement Automobile), a company founded by French-born Yves Seitz in La Tour-de-Peilz on Lake Geneva. Before establishing CDA, Seitz had already shown various projects in Switzerland and at the Geneva Motor Show. The Profil, a full-size 1:1 model of a high-performance sports car, was unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show in 1990.
The car was developed with the help of students from the Art Center College of Design, where Seitz worked temporarily as a specialist instructor. It was a two-door, two-seat coupe with a mid-mounted engine, measuring 430 cm in length, nearly 2 m in width (198 cm), and just 116 cm in height. The design was intended to accommodate a BMW V12 engine paired with a ZF manual gearbox, though the concept could theoretically have been realized with a different, equivalent engine as well.
Seitz was also working at the same time on plans for a small electric city car called Urbis, which was to use a front-mounted electric motor driving the rear wheels through hydraulic pressure. The Profil remained a one-off concept, never entering production.
