Paris, behold! McLaren P1 is coming!

Sep 18, 2012

mclaren did it! having teased us in the previous images and super high-end teaser video, the company has kept its most anticipated secret until the big moment today.

mclaren automotive today released first three official pictures of their newest model - the p1 - which a direct successor for the legendary street king - the f1. ainted in iconic mclaren orange, the p1, features a stunning, state-of-the-art design, keeping some design cues of its big bother and also of the current mp4-12c. as previously noticed, the new hypercar features super aerodunamic bodywork with the frontlights in the shape of mclaren badge, two huge air vents on the front bonnet.  gigantic side vents echoes the f1's styling while the rear end of the p1 is something completely mindblowing. incredibly thin taillights are combined into the rear curves of the bodywork in such way that it seems there are none! a rear exhaust pipe is so huge, that mclaren simply must add a "jet blast danger" sign next to it. the entire exterior is a pure magic of carbon fiber, it screems speed and quickness.

an inportant fact to mention is that the model that will be demonstrated at the paris staring thursday 27 september, is a design study a.k.a. a preproduction concept of the final model that will be unveiled in full guise within next 12 months.

however, for this moment, mclaren still keeps some trump cards since neither tech specifications nor the price of the p1 has been revealed yet. the only words the company has for this moment is that their new masterpiece "will sit above the 12c and 12c spider, in terms of both price and performance". luckily, not much is left to wait until all cards are revealed. paris, behold! the trueblooded predator is coming!

mclaren automotive will use its first ever international motor show appearance to preview its next generation ultimate supercar – the mclaren p1 – which takes much of its technological and spiritual inspiration from the company’s racing division.  the mclaren p1 has one simple goal: to be the best driver’s car in the world on road and track.

at the paris motor show, mondial de l'automobile 2012, the mclaren p1 is previewed as a design study. next year a production version, which the company aims to put on sale within 12 months, will be revealed.

‘the mclaren p1 will be the result of 50 years of racing and road car heritage,’ says mclaren automotive executive chairman ron dennis. ‘twenty years ago we raised the supercar performance bar with the mclaren f1 and our goal with the mclaren p1 is to redefine it once again.’

‘our aim is not necessarily to be the fastest in absolute top speed but to be the quickest and most rewarding series production road car on a circuit,’ says mclaren automotive managing director antony sheriff. ‘it is the true test of a supercar’s all round ability and a much more important technical statement. our goal is to make the mclaren p1 the most exciting, most capable, most technologically advanced and most dynamically accomplished supercar ever made.’

when the mclaren p1 goes into production later next year, it will sit above the 12c and 12c spider, in terms of both price and performance.

more information will be released following the mclaren automotive press conference scheduled for 17.45 cest (16.45 bst), on thursday 27 september 2012.
