Duryea Gem

Duryea Gem Manufacturing Co. was based in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and represented the final automotive venture of Charles Duryea. The company produced a three-wheeled cyclecar known as the Gem, which used the same engine and drive system as Duryea's four-wheeled model of 1914–15. The chassis for the Gem was built by the Detroit Chassis Co.

The Gem was promoted with considerable enthusiasm, being advertised as "the biggest idea in the history of the motorcar and the last word in automobile construction." Despite this marketing, production remained extremely limited, with no more than six examples ever built. A four-wheeled version of the design was also developed, but only a single prototype was completed.

Following this venture, Charles Duryea continued to contribute to the automotive field through writing, producing numerous technical books and articles. He served as technical editor of Automobile Trade Journal for fifteen years, a role he maintained until his death in September 1938.
