CEYC, short for Central FJectrot&nico y dcComunicaciones, was a Spanish automotive brand that operated between 1922 and 1928. The company was based in Madrid and Bilbao and was notable for its unique origins, as it was designed and built by the Spanish War Ministry. The primary focus of CEYC was to create a light car intended for military communications.
The vehicle featured a distinctive 4-cylinder, 792cc, 2-stroke engine, which was characterized by its two combustion chambers. CEYC presented this model to the military in 1923, and it was subsequently showcased to the general public at the Barcelona Motor Show in 1924. To facilitate production for civilian use, CEYC commissioned Euskalduna, a company based in Bilbao, to manufacture the car while retaining the CEYC name for the military variant.
At the 1926 motor show, both the CEYC and Euskalduna versions of the car were displayed on separate stands, despite being fundamentally the same vehicle. Later iterations of the car were capable of reaching speeds of nearly 70 mph (113 km/h). Euskalduna also ventured into developing its own vehicles, which featured a larger engine designed by the same engineer responsible for the CEYC model; however, only a limited number of these cars were produced.
