The Dalziel Motor Manufacturing Company, based in Motherwell, was established in 1913 and operated until 1920. The company was known for producing the D.L. model, which was introduced in December 1913. This small car featured a distinctive vee-radiator design and was initially available in two engine variants: 8 horsepower and 10/12 horsepower. However, the majority of the production focused on the larger engine option, which had a displacement of 1306 cc and was rated at 11.9 horsepower.

The D.L. model was offered in three body styles: a 2-seater, a 4-seater, and a delivery van. Although production ceased around 1920, there is some evidence suggesting that a limited number of vehicles may have been manufactured in the years following World War I. During this time, William Guthrie, the company's founder, shifted his focus to producing a three-wheeled agricultural tractor in Glasgow, marking a transition away from automobile manufacturing.
