DL /DLM

D.L. was a small car manufactured by the D.L. Motor Manufacturing Co. of Motherwell, Scotland, a firm that had previously operated as the Dalziel Motor Manufacturing Co. The car was announced in December 1913 and featured a distinctive vee-shaped radiator.

It was initially offered with a choice of 8hp or 10/12hp engines, though production concentrated mainly on the larger unit, a 1306cc engine rated at 11.9hp. Buyers could choose from three body styles: a two-seater, a four-seater, and a delivery van.

There is some evidence that limited production continued after the First World War, but from 1919 the company's founder, William Guthrie, turned his attention to the Glasgow three-wheeled agricultural tractor, effectively bringing D.L. car production to an end.
