Brand Data

Company Name: Carrozzeria Balbo

Country: Italy

Carrozzeria Balbo was a coachbuilding firm established in Turin, Italy, by Alfonso Balbo in 1914. Initially focused on traditional coachbuilding, the company shifted its focus after World War II towards the development of microcars.

In 1953, Balbo introduced the Balbo B400 at the Turin Motor Show. This small two-seater coupé featured a roll-top design and was powered by a rear-mounted 398cc two-stroke twin-cylinder engine, producing 14.9 horsepower. A notable design element of the B400 was its American-style chrome 'jet-intake' ornament on the front. Despite its innovative approach, the Balbo B400 did not progress beyond the prototype stage and offered no significant advantages over existing models, such as the Fiat Topolino.
