Emerson was an early American automobile manufacturer founded by Victor L. Emerson in Cincinnati, Ohio, in 1907. Emerson claimed to be a pioneer in the automotive industry, having developed a three-wheeled vehicle powered by gas from vaporizing coal oil as early as 1885. This early innovation positioned him as a notable figure in the nascent automotive landscape.

In 1896, Emerson constructed another vehicle known as the Emerson-Fischer, which utilized a Duryea-King engine. His most ambitious project came in 1907 with the announcement of a powerful automobile named the Military. This model featured a 10.6-litre, 60/70 horsepower, six-cylinder rotary-valve engine and was equipped with only two forward speeds. Emerson set a price of $8,000 for a three-seater roadster version of the Military, although the number of units sold remains unknown. It is speculated that sales may have been minimal, as Emerson was concurrently employed by the American Auto Car Company, and the Military was primarily a private venture.
