Duesenberg Corporation, based in Gardenia and Inglewood, California, operated during the 1970s, focusing on the production of high-quality replicas of the original Duesenberg SSJ Speedster. The company utilized precise dimensions taken from an original vehicle that had been owned by the actor Gary Cooper, ensuring authenticity in their replicas.
The replicas featured a combination of aluminum and steel bodies mounted on a Dodge truck chassis. They were powered by either carbureted or supercharged Chrysler V8 engines. Although the cars were advertised to produce 500 horsepower, it is believed that their actual output was closer to 300 horsepower. The vehicles were built on a 128-inch (3249 mm) wheelbase and were equipped with 18-inch (475 mm) diameter wheels, along with four-wheel drum brakes.
Customers had the option to order custom bodies that resembled other Duesenberg models, allowing for a degree of personalization. However, these assembled cars were known for their high price, reflecting the craftsmanship and materials involved in their production.
