Dow Electric DTL was an electric microcar developed in 1960 by Dow Testing Laboratory, located in Detroit, Michigan. The vehicle was notable for its compact size, measuring only 74 inches (1878 mm) in length, which made it suitable for urban environments.
The DTL was designed as a two-seater and was powered by two 0.3 horsepower motors. It utilized a combination of three 12-volt and four 24-volt batteries, which allowed the car to achieve a top speed of 20 miles per hour (32 km/h) and a range of approximately 30 miles (48 km) on a single charge. Despite its innovative design and potential for urban mobility, the project did not secure financial backing, which ultimately hindered its development and production.
