Rago

Carlos and Waldemar Rago made twelve examples of this microcar, which were powered by a rear-mounted Hispano-Villiers 325cc 2-stroke engine with clutch and gearbox by the same maker. The fibreglass 2-seater body, designed by De la Maria, could accommodate two adults and two children.
The Rago brothers lost money on all the cars they sold, so they stopped production and turned to making fibreglass components for other firms. Carlos Rago died in accident, but Waldemar Rago moved to the United States, where he owned a garage in Linden, NJ until he retired. All of the tooling and dies used to make Rago cars still exist in Montevideo and are kept by members of the Rago family.
