Brand Data

Company Name: Dispatch Motor Co.

Place: Minneapolis, Minnesota

Country: United States

Dispatch Motor Company was established in 1910 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The company aimed to produce automobiles, with its first model being a small roadster that featured a 2-cylinder, 2-stroke engine. This initial vehicle garnered attention in the press by December of the same year.

In 1912, Dispatch Motor Company planned to expand its offerings with a larger model that utilized a 23-horsepower, 4-cylinder Wisconsin engine. The company listed various body styles, including roadsters, tourers, and coupes, with prices ranging from $935 to $1,210. Notably, the company employed chain drive technology, which was reported to be in use as late as 1918.

Despite the announcements regarding its vehicles, there was little evidence to suggest that actual production had commenced. In January 1919, the publication MotorAge declared the end of Dispatch's manufacturing efforts, although it remained unclear if any cars had ever been built. It is believed that the first vehicle may have been constructed for Dispatch by the M.B. Buggy Company, also based in Minneapolis. The ongoing release of specifications without corresponding vehicles drew parallels to the British company Owen, indicating a lack of tangible output from Dispatch Motor Company.
