Dayton [4]

This cyclecar manufacturer was based in Joliet, Illinois, and was established by William O. Dayton, who had previously built the Reliable Dayton high-wheeler. Following the growing popularity of cyclecars, Dayton introduced a model powered by a 9/13hp two-cylinder Spacke engine. The vehicle featured a hickory wood frame, a friction transmission, and belt final drive, with seating offered either side by side or in tandem.

Later in 1914, the company moved away from the cyclecar concept by adopting an 18hp four-cylinder engine. By November of that year, Dayton fully departed from cyclecar production, introducing the four-cylinder Crusader as a light car instead.
