The Cunningham Company was established in Lime Rock, Connecticut, and became known for its production of high-performance automobiles, particularly in the racing sector. One of its most notable models was the Cunningham C-4R, which achieved significant success in motorsport during the early 1950s.
In later years, the company produced replicas of the C-4R, financed by Briggs Cunningham III, the son of the original creator. These replicas were designed to closely resemble the original racing cars, featuring aluminum bodies and powered by a 5430cc Chrysler Hemi engine.
The replicas were offered at a premium price and were available only as fully assembled vehicles. Buyers had the option to choose between maintaining the original specifications or upgrading to more modern running gear, reflecting a blend of classic design with contemporary performance capabilities.
