Coachsmiths was an American automotive manufacturer based in Mabelvale, Arizona, that emerged around 1990. The company specialized in producing neoclassic kit cars, which were designed to evoke the style of classic automobiles while utilizing modern components.
One of the notable models produced by Coachsmiths was the Blackstone Town Coupe. This vehicle was based on the Chevrolet Monza or Pontiac Sunbird and featured a distinctive design that included a long bonnet, a chrome grille, and sweeping mudguards with side-mounted spare tires. The chassis of the Blackstone was extended to a wheelbase of 137 inches (3,477 mm), and it utilized suspension components from the Chevrolet Malibu. The Blackstone Town Coupe was available both as a kit for enthusiasts to assemble themselves and as a fully assembled vehicle.
In addition to the Blackstone, Coachsmiths also offered a rebody kit for the Pontiac Firebird, known as the Icon. This kit transformed the Firebird's appearance to resemble a Ferrari Testarossa, showcasing Coachsmiths' focus on creating unique and stylized automotive designs.
