Atlas was an American automobile brand that operated from 1907 to 1913, founded by Harry A. Knox in Springfield, Massachusetts. Knox, who previously established the Knox Motor Truck Company, introduced the Atlas brand after leaving his namesake company. The initial model, the Adas Model R Runabout, featured a 20-horsepower, 2-cylinder, 2-stroke engine and was built on a 90-inch (2284 mm) wheelbase. This model was designed by the Sunset Automobile Company, which had relocated to Springfield following the destruction of its factory in the 1906 San Francisco earthquake.

In 1908, the Atlas lineup expanded to include more powerful models, such as a 34-horsepower 3-cylinder and a 46-horsepower 4-cylinder variant, both of which were designed to accommodate larger bodies, including 5-seater tourers. The 2-cylinder model was also adapted for use as a taxicab and delivery van. By 1911, the Atlas brand had grown in size, culminating in the introduction of the 40-horsepower 4-cylinder Model O, which featured a 128-inch (3249 mm) wheelbase.

As automotive technology evolved, the 2-stroke engine fell out of favor. In response, Knox transitioned to using the sleeve-valve Knight engine, rebranding his vehicles as Atlas-Knights. A notable 50-horsepower model was produced for two seasons before Knox relocated to Indianapolis to collaborate with the Lyons brothers on the LYONS-KNIGHT brand.
