The American Waltham Manufacturing Company was established in Waltham, Massachusetts, and operated briefly from 1898 to 1899. The company is primarily recognized for its production of light steam cars, which featured a two-cylinder engine located under the seat, tiller steering, and a single-chain drive system that powered the rear axle.

In addition to their automotive endeavors, the American Waltham Manufacturing Company was more widely known for manufacturing Comet bicycles, which they produced for several years both before and after their foray into the automotive market. It is important to note that the American Waltham Manufacturing Company should not be confused with the Waltham Steamer, a different vehicle produced by John Piper and George Tinker from 1898 to 1902, which is sometimes referred to as the Piper-Tinker.
