Allen was an American automobile manufacturer established in 1914 by the Allen Iron & Steel Company, based in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The company produced vehicles that were often categorized as light cars, although they were sometimes referred to as cyclecars due to their compact design.
The Allen automobile featured a four-cylinder, water-cooled engine and utilized a unique transmission system that incorporated friction discs for gear changes, along with a final drive mechanism powered by double belts. The pricing for the Allen car was set at $450, making it an accessible option for consumers at the time. In 1915, the company announced plans for a shaft-drive model; however, only a prototype was developed, and the model did not enter production.
