Tester Racing was a British specialist restorer and low-volume constructor that focused on recreations and race preparation of 1950s and 1960s sports cars. The firm traced its roots to a family enterprise in Perthshire, Scotland, and James (“Jim”) Tester took over the business in November 1996. By the mid-2010s it operated from Daventry, England, as Tester Racing Ltd, offering classic car restoration, fabrication, chassis and component manufacture, race preparation and support, turnkey builds, and cars for sale. Its flagship project was a limited run of Jaguar XK120 GTs inspired by Jaguar’s period lightweight “LT” cars; the company described the LT2 as a lightweight, racing-focused variant of the XK120 developed alongside LT1 and LT3, with de-seamed bodywork and a removable bonnet. Tester Racing planned a standardized specification with customer tailoring and referenced a run of twenty-eight vehicles. The company also promoted projects tied to Ferrari 250 LM and Jaguar E-type themes.
