HLB

H.L.B. Motors was a British vehicle manufacturer based at Islington Green, London. The company was notable for producing an unusual type of vehicle: a steam-powered cyclecar.

The vehicle featured a Stanley-type paraffin-fired boiler along with two double-acting cylinders, and it was built on an armoured wood frame. Its engine was mounted beneath the floorboards and drove the rear axle directly by a single chain. The front suspension employed an inverted semi-elliptic spring.

The cyclecar was announced in June 1914, a timing that proved highly unfavorable for the venture. Given the unconventional nature of the design, it was unlikely that the vehicle would have achieved significant success under any circumstances.
