Gecko was a British automotive brand that operated briefly from 1965 to 1966, under the ownership of Langsett Industries Ltd, based in Sheffield, Yorkshire. The brand was founded by Stuart Smith, who was only 23 years old at the time of its inception.
The Gecko was notable for its compact design, measuring just 66 inches (1,675 mm) in length. It was conceived as a two-seater car that could be parked upright, a feature that was somewhat unnecessary given its small size. The vehicle was powered by a 200cc two-stroke engine, which allowed it to reach a claimed top speed of 50 mph (80 km/h).
One of the distinctive features of the Gecko was its design, which included transparent side sections and a removable roof, intended to provide a more open and sporty driving experience. Despite these innovative ideas, the planned production run for the Gecko never materialized, and the brand ceased operations shortly after its establishment.
