Brand Data

Company Name: B.E. Dickinson & Co.

Place: Birmingham

Country: United Kingdom

Dickinson & Morette was a British automobile manufacturer based in Birmingham, active for a brief period in 1905. The company was known for producing lightweight three-wheeled vehicles, with its most notable model being the Imanson Mucett. This vehicle was powered by a 1.5 horsepower single-cylinder two-stroke Ixion engine, which was positioned just behind the front wheel.

The design of the Imanson Mucett featured a unique starting mechanism. A lever located below the steering tiller was pulled backward, engaging a system that jerked the car forward, theoretically starting the engine by connecting the flywheel to the front wheel. This innovative approach allowed the vehicle to be lightweight, with the first model weighing only 90 pounds (approximately 40.8 kilograms) and designed as a single-seater. However, it was reported that the vehicle could be modified to accommodate two passengers by adding a more powerful engine.

Later iterations of the vehicle included a model equipped with a 4 horsepower two-cylinder engine, which utilized a chain drive to the front wheel. Despite its innovative designs, Dickinson & Morette's production was short-lived, and the company ceased operations in the same year it was founded.
