Brand Data

Company Name: Hellmut Butenuth / Butenuth Fahrzeug AG

Place: Dortmund

Country: Germany

Bufag was a German automobile manufacturer founded in 1923 by Hellmuth Butenuth in Dortmund, Germany. The company specialized in the production of small three-wheeled vehicles, which were notable for their tandem seating arrangement. These vehicles were powered by two-stroke engines, available in outputs of 2.5 or 5 PS, which drove a single rear wheel. The chassis of these vehicles was constructed from rectangular section steel tubes.

Although Bufag claimed to have produced over 100 units of their three-wheeled vehicles, the actual production figures remain uncertain, and it is likely that only a limited number of examples were manufactured. Following World War II, Hellmuth Butenuth transitioned to producing trucks in Berlin under the name Fxonom.
