Velorex, produced by the Výrobní družstvo Velorex cooperative in Solnice, Czechoslovakia, originated from efforts to provide affordable mobility for people with disabilities after the Second World War. Its roots traced back to František Stránský and his brother Mojmír, who in 1942 built a basic cyclecar for disabled users, consisting of a tubular frame with a seat mounted beside the engine.
