Bennett & Barkell Ltd was an Australian automobile manufacturer based in Sydney, New South Wales. The company entered the automotive market during the early 20th century, a period characterized by the popularity of cyclecars.
The first model produced by Bennett & Barkell was built on a tubular chassis and featured a 2-cylinder, 8 horsepower air-cooled Chater-Lea engine. This model included a 3-speed gearbox and belt drive, along with cycle guards and an all-steel body with leather upholstery. It was claimed to reach speeds of up to 40 miles per hour.
In 1913, the company introduced the B. & B. cyclecar, which also utilized a 2-cylinder Chater-Lea engine but was upgraded to produce 14.7 horsepower. This model featured a leather-faced clutch, a 3-speed gearbox, and an overhead worm rear axle. The wheelbase of the B. & B. cyclecar measured 78 inches (1981 mm), and it had a weight of 306 kg. It is believed that only one unit of each type was manufactured, indicating the limited production of these vehicles.
