leading previous teaser videos and image, french design company genty automobile officialy revealed their akylone hi-per* car today. the appearance of the new contender is aggresive and powerful, clean but not boring. being reminiscent of the legendary mclaren f1 at some angles or to koenigsegg agera, the french dream machine will be hand-built built for only 15 lucky customers.
the akylone will be powered by a mid-mounted twin-turbocharged v8 engine. the maximum power of more than 1000hp will be delivered to the rear wheels through a sequential 7 speed gearbox with shift paddle. respectivelly, the estimated performance figures for this french street legal jet-fighter are indeed sumbliminal. the company claims the top speed of 354 km/h and 0-100 acceleration of just 2.7 seconds with a standing quarter mile only in 9.8 seconds.
the superlightweight coupe utilizes composite materials, carbon an aluminum thus the total weight is only 1100 kg. this means the power-to-weight ration of the akylone is 1,1 kg / hp! in comparison with the most extreme supercars of today like bugatti veyron 16.4 super sport (1.53 kg / hp), ssc ultimate aero (0,969 kg/hp) and koenigsegg agera (1,41 kg / hp) the french newcomer looks to be an ambitious conqueror which may find its place among the elite superautomobiles of today.
the price tag of the genty's creation is a top secret. however, if you start thinking about how much, you may probably will not be among those 15 to call themselves the owners of the akylone. there are still much work to do before the car is ready to hit the streets and tracks, however the world premiere will take place at paris international motor show in 2012. furthermore, the company has very ambitious plans to smash the lap record of the green hell at nürburgring nordschleife and may even participate in the 24 hours of le mans.
