Company Name: FRA (Fast Road Automobile) Car Company
Place: Newcastle upon Tyne
Country: United Kingdom
FRA Engineering was a British kit car manufacturer based at Aycliffe Industrial Park in Newton Aycliffe, County Durham. From 1993 it produced the FRA Mini-esque, a plastic replica of the 1960s Mini. The model was sold as a kit adapted to use the chassis and running gear of Minis built between 1959 and 2000. It was compatible with engines including the Rover 16V, Vauxhall 2.0-litre 16V, Fiat Twin Cam, and Honda VTEC units. The company marketed the Mini-esque exclusively as a kit car, with a chassis and body priced from approximately £1,500.
By the mid-1990s FRA had established itself in the niche of replica Minis, offering lightweight plastic bodies styled after the classic model, aimed at enthusiasts seeking motorsport or hobbyist projects. The cars were not sold as turnkey vehicles but instead relied on donor mechanicals for completion.
