Company Name: Economic Motors

Place: London

Country: United Kingdom

Economic Motors was a British automobile manufacturer based in London, active during the early 1920s. The company produced a distinctive three-wheeled vehicle that was marketed as an affordable option for postwar motorists. This vehicle featured a single front wheel and minimal bodywork, lacking any form of weather protection. Its design included an ash frame, which the manufacturers claimed provided sufficient flexibility to eliminate the need for traditional springing.

The engine of the Economic car was a 165cc air-cooled two-stroke flat-twin, which powered the offside rear wheel through a chain and a two-speed friction transmission. The vehicle had a remarkably low unladen weight of 150 pounds (68 kilograms) and could reach a top speed of 30 miles per hour (48 kilometers per hour). Priced at £60, it was one of the most economical cars available at the time.

In addition to its automotive production, Economic Motors also manufactured a motorcycle equipped with the same engine, which was sold for £28.10s (£28.50). By 1923, the motorcycle operations were associated with the Eynsford Engineering Company located in Eynsford, Kent, although it remains unclear if car production continued at that site.
