Coronet Cars Ltd was a British automobile manufacturer based in Denham, Buckinghamshire, that operated from 1957 to 1960. The company aimed to combine the refinements of full-size cars with the compactness of a microcar, resulting in the creation of the Coronet model.
The Coronet was designed as an open two or three-seater vehicle, notable for its unique single rear wheel configuration. It was powered by a 328cc Excelsior twin-cylinder engine, which produced 18 brake horsepower. The body of the car was constructed from fibreglass, with production handled by the coachbuilders James Whitson & Co., who also contributed to the assembly of the vehicle.
The chassis of the Coronet utilized suspension and steering components sourced from the Standard 8, a common practice among small manufacturers of the time to reduce costs and complexity. Approximately 250 units of the Coronet were produced during its brief production run, marking a niche entry in the microcar segment of the automotive market.
