Butterfield Engineering was a British automotive manufacturer based in Nazing, Essex, that operated from 1961 to 1963. The company is best known for producing the Butterfield Musketeer, which was recognized as the world's first kit car based on the Mini.

The Musketeer featured a distinctive design characterized by a long nose that tilted forward for engine access and rounded lines made from fiberglass. It was built on a multi-tubular chassis that could accommodate either an 848cc or a 998cc engine sourced from the Mini. The vehicle offered an up-market specification that included a rev counter and optional adjustable dampers, appealing to a niche market of enthusiasts.

Despite its innovative design, the Butterfield Musketeer was priced significantly higher than the Mini, nearly double, which limited its market appeal and ultimately led to the company's early closure.
