Berkeley Motor Co. was established in 1991 in Syston, Leicestershire, focusing on the production of replica vehicles based on the original Berkeley designs. The company emerged from Berkeley Developments, which was founded in 1970 with the aim of restoring original Berkeley cars and utilizing the original body molds to create new shells.
By 1993, Berkeley Motor Co. commenced the production of complete replicas of the T60 model. These replicas featured newly engineered ladder chassis or folded aluminum panels that were bonded to fiberglass bodies. The standard powertrain for these vehicles was derived from the Mini, utilizing a Mini front subframe, although various motorcycle engines and the Citroën 2CV engine were also options. In addition to the T60 replicas, the company offered models such as Bandini and Camcrotta. Eventually, a four-wheeled Mini-powered Berkeley replica was developed, expanding the brand's offerings.
In 1996, the company transitioned to Berkeley Developments, which continued to operate from Langley Hill in Nottinghamshire, maintaining the legacy of the original Berkeley brand.
