Alto was a British automotive brand that operated briefly from 1983 to 1984. The company was based in Surrey and was known for producing a distinctive two-seater coupé made from fiberglass. This model was built on the chassis of the Volkswagen Beetle, which contributed to its unique design and performance characteristics.
The Alto coupé bore a striking resemblance to the AVANTE, another vehicle of the era. An optional chassis was available that allowed for the installation of a mid-engine setup powered by the Alfa Romeo Alfasud engine, providing an alternative performance option for enthusiasts. Despite its innovative design, the brand's operations were short-lived, and a subsequent attempt to revive the Alto in 1988 by Cardo Engineering did not come to fruition.
