Autofabriken D.K.R. AS was a Danish car manufacturing venture based in Roskilde. It was founded by engineer S.A. Mathiesen, who had previously been involved with D.K., together with two partners, Gabrielsen and Ahlmann-Ohlsen. The company aimed to produce a plastic-bodied car in Denmark and received initial support from the Danish government.
The car was designed as a four-door saloon with an enveloping plastic body mounted on an aluminium frame. The concept sought to combine American-style interior roominess with European-style light weight construction. Early plans envisioned a three-cylinder engine, but the production version was instead powered by an 1100cc Heinkel flat-four engine producing 45bhp, paired with a ZF four-speed gearbox driving the front wheels.
The company intended to build as many as 400 cars per month, with each vehicle priced at 15,000 kronor. However, the Danish government subsequently withdrew its financial support, which brought an end to the project before it could be realized.
