Disai was an automotive brand that originated from Liuzhou Machinery Works, located in Liuzhou City, Guangxi Region, China. The brand focused on producing compact vehicles, particularly mini cars, which were characterized by their lightweight construction and unique design.
The bodies of Disai vehicles were made from glass fiber reinforced plastic, contributing to their reduced weight. The design of these cars was based on the Daihatsu Charade, a popular model from the Japanese automaker. Disai utilized a license-built 2-cylinder engine derived from Daihatsu, which powered their vehicles.
The first models produced under the Disai brand were estate cars, initially named Disai LJ 720. This model was later renamed Disai LJ 501 OXA. Following the introduction of the estate variant, a saloon car was also developed, expanding the brand's offerings in the compact car segment.
