Besst was an automobile brand established in 1924 by Mays Motor Works, located in Adelaide, South Australia. The company produced vehicles that were typical of the assembled car market of the time, primarily utilizing components sourced from the United States.
The Besst model featured a 4-cylinder Lycoming engine, which produced 19.6 horsepower, paired with a Zenith carburettor and an Eismann magneto. The vehicle was equipped with a 3-speed Muncie gearbox and a fully floating rear axle. Standard features included Dyneto electrics and Houk wire wheels, all built on a wheelbase measuring 2947 mm. Among the notable offerings was the Richards 'King of the Road' touring model, which came with many features that were typically available only as optional extras.
It appears that the Besst was essentially a variant of the Crown Kahrt model L, although the time lag in production may suggest that the chassis were leftover stock. Only six units of the Besst were known to have been built.
