In November 1954, Chevy Studio proposed an alternative roof design for the new Bel Air. This design notably reduced the size of the rear passenger side window and featured a significantly lower and shorter roof compared to the version ultimately chosen for production. There was speculation at the time that this design could have been intended for a two-passenger version of the Bel Air. However, despite its distinctive features, this proposed roof design did not make it to production, and the Bel Air debuted with a different roof configuration.
