Buick Electra Zenith Concept

Buick presented the Electra Zenith Mobile Space Smart Body at the 2026 Beijing Auto Show as a concept introducing the next design direction of its China-focused Electra new-energy sub-brand. Rather than following a conventional sedan, SUV or MPV format, the vehicle was developed as a self-contained passenger space shaped around autonomous driving and a cabin capable of changing according to the occupants’ activities.

The exterior is formed around a large teardrop-shaped body with an extensively transparent upper structure. Its front uses what Buick calls a floating wing shield, a design influenced by traditional Eastern embroidery. Feather-like patterns are laser-etched across the translucent surface, continuing the wing theme without relying on a conventional grille or separate decorative panel. This treatment is intended to establish the appearance of later Electra models.

An AI-controlled projection display is integrated into the front section and activates when a person approaches the vehicle. The lighting can therefore provide an interactive exterior response rather than operating only as conventional illumination. A corresponding lighting pattern appears at the rear, where it is accompanied by a U-shaped deployable spoiler. The wheels also use active aerodynamic elements that can alter their form according to operating requirements.

The cabin was developed as a shared social area rather than a permanently fixed driving environment. Four individual seats can rotate through almost 360 degrees, permitting the occupants to face one another when the vehicle is operating autonomously or is stationary. The front seats can also recline extensively, while the arrangement allows rear passengers to extend their legs towards the front head restraints.

A transforming centre console forms the principal interior feature. Inspired by traditional Chinese folding fans and room dividers, its crystal-like structure can unfold into a rotating table positioned between the four seats. It can also fold flat when no longer required or stand vertically to create a partition between sections of the passenger compartment. Buick presented the arrangement as part of a configurable immersive cabin capable of supporting both communication and privacy.

The technical programme associated with the Electra Zenith includes high-level autonomous driving, solid-state battery technology and a steer-by-wire chassis. Four electric motors are intended to provide individual wheel control and torque vectoring, although Buick has not published figures for output, battery capacity, driving range or performance. The concept therefore remains an examination of future design, automated mobility and adaptable passenger accommodation rather than a technically defined production model.
