The Utah 8 is an experimental two-seat sports car built by Colani, using a tubular space frame chassis with a fibreglass body finished in the designer's characteristic, unconventional style. Power comes from a BMW K 100 motorcycle engine, a 1-litre four-cylinder unit fitted with a Luftmeister turbo and Zöllner tuning, producing around 159 horsepower.
Conceived as a record-attempt vehicle, the Utah 8 was built with minimal equipment: it had a single seat and a rudimentary dashboard, with no other interior trim or furnishing.
It formed part of a wider series of record vehicles developed by Colani, encompassing both two- and four-wheeled designs powered by electric or combustion engines. Each of these vehicles shared the same emphasis on extreme aerodynamic bodywork typical of Colani's approach.
