The Utah 7 was a low-slung coupe built by Colani and described as a design study rather than a vehicle intended for speed records. Its bodywork was notably distinctive for a concept of this kind, featuring completely flat glass panels, including a front windscreen that extended down between the front wheels to form a wedge shape, joined by a short roof that stretched rearward into a wing. The side windows were integrated into gullwing doors and extended low along a curved beltline. The flowing fiberglass body was mounted on the chassis of a former racing sports car. Power came from a tuned 1.3-liter mid-mounted Volkswagen Golf engine, and the interior was fitted with leather upholstery for a comfort-oriented specification.
