The Utah 2 was a two-seat concept vehicle developed by Colani, designed as an aerodynamic machine combining pedal power with an auxiliary motor. Its underlying structure consisted of a lightweight tubular frame built from St-37 and 25 CrMo4 steel, incorporating bicycle components and glass-fibre reinforced plastic side panels, all enclosed beneath a continuous plexiglass canopy.
The car used 20-inch front and 26-inch rear wheels mounted within the bodywork, with hydraulic Magura brakes providing stopping power. Propulsion came from an F&S Saxonette hub motor, a single-cylinder, two-stroke unit of 30 cubic centimetres producing 0.7 horsepower at 3750 rpm, driving the right rear wheel.
Colani conceived the Utah 2 as a vehicle intended for short-distance travel of up to around 15 kilometres, describing it as a concept that could revolutionize urban traffic.
