The Nissan Luc-2, known in Japan as the ニッサンLUC-2, was presented as a lightweight sports car aimed at driving enjoyment. It took the form of a hardtop coupe/cabriolet with two doors and two seats. A glass roof could be fully retracted at the touch of a button, leaving only the windshield, curved backward at its top edge, to serve as wind protection.
The design combined a simple layout with an attractive appearance, highlighted by wheel arches that curved slightly outward for a sporty, elegant look. A white paint finish and an interior fully trimmed in a beige-yellow special material called Aero-Form-Cloth gave the car a luxurious character. Particular attention was paid to a sophisticated hi-fi system capable of turning the cabin into a concert-like listening space, and a second antenna indicated the presence of a car telephone.
The car was powered by the CA16DE engine, a 4-cylinder unit of 1598 cc with double overhead camshafts and 16 valves, producing 120 hp at 6400 rpm. This engine became available from 1986 in Nissan's Sunny/Pulsar/EXA range. The wheels were paired with a sporty suspension setup and fitted with 205/50 VR 15 tires. The instrument displays were electronic, and the taillights used LED technology.
