Isuzu Zaccar

1997

The Isuzu Zaccar is a concept vehicle that represents a compact SUV format combining a simple, sporty body with a configurable "open deck" utility space. It is designed as a new genre of SUV that supports functions for outdoor sports alongside everyday usability.

The rear of the vehicle features a newly developed open deck utility system. This system achieves a variety of loading configurations through the combination of a movable carrier that swings widely between the roof and the rear, a detachable rear deck, and a tailgate.

For passenger access, the vehicle utilizes a half-size rear door that opens in a casement (suicide door) arrangement alongside the front door to improve rear-seat ingress and egress. This setup maintains a two-door appearance while adding functional access. The interior cabin features a high roof line for headroom and a large glass area. Additionally, the spare tire is stored beneath the floor to maximize luggage space.
