The Isuzu Costa is a concept four-wheel-drive open vehicle designed to combine the dynamism of a 4x4 with the fashionability of a sporty open-top car, targeted at cheerful and lively outdoor enthusiasts. It was introduced around the same time as the April debut of the Isuzu Mu, marking a transition for Isuzu pickups—starting with the Faster Rodeo—into more urbanely refined SUVs.
The exterior features high-volume body lines intended to express strong torque, and it utilizes resin panels for all outer body sections except for the door panels. A defining characteristic of the vehicle is its high-lift style, a feature not typically seen in conventional open 4WDs.
The interior is trimmed in rich genuine leather. While configured as a four-seater, an electric sliding deck allows the vehicle to transform into a sporty two-seater by moving forward when only the front seats are in use. For mechanical utility during outdoor leisure activities, the front and rear underguards are equipped with a winch and towing hooks.
