The Lola Ultimo was a one-off road-going conversion of a Lola racing sports car, shown at the Michelotti stand of the 1981 Geneva Motor Show alongside the CVP, though it arrived at the display somewhat later than planned. Rather than a true concept car, it was a bespoke rebuild of an existing Lola racer, commissioned by a Canadian client, retaining its Chevrolet V8 mid-engine layout.
The bodywork gave the car a wedge-shaped front end considered notably more elegant than that of conventional racing two-seaters of its type. In a manner drawn from motorsport practice, the cooling air outlet was placed ahead of the windscreen. That windscreen was generously sized and blended without a visible break into unusually tall side windows. A distinctive touch came from the roof strips adjoining the door pillars, made from transparent plastic elements.
