The Total Group demonstrates automotive expertise at the 64th IAA in Frankfurt

Frankfurt/Main, 13 September 2011 – The Total Group is appearing at the 2011 International Motor Show (IAA) under the slogan “Your partner for sustainable innovation”. The Total stand is located at Frankfurt Exhibition Centre in the Automotive Suppliers Hall, 4.1, C24, and can be visited between 13 and 16 September.

In vehicle construction, issues such as lightweight construction, sustainability and environmental friendliness are becoming increasingly important, and are an important business sector for the Total Group’s internationally active chemical companies Atotech, Bostik, Hutchinson and Total Petrochemicals. Their joint appearance showcases Total’s special activities and innovative solutions for cars.

“The central challenge of the automotive industry is to further improve energy efficiency of cars, whereby the Total Group already offers cutting edge products that are used by manufacturers,” said François Cornélis, Vice-Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Total Group and President of Chemicals, during a visit to the joint stand. 

According to François Cornélis, the discussion should not just be limited to how conventional combustion engines can be replaced by alternative transmission technologies: “More sustainable mobility in personal transport means focussing on the entire lifecycle. As a strong partner of the automotive industry, the Total Group offers with its chemical companies comprehensive solutions in production and operation!”
