CITROËN TECHNOSPACE: CREATVIE DESIGN AND ONBOARD TECHNOLOGY

After unveiling the exterior of the CITROËN TECHNOSPACE, CITROËN is now revealing the interior of the concept car.

Like the outside, the inside of the CITROËN TECHNOSPACE ushers in a new era. It features all the strong points that have made CITROËN a recognised player in the MPV segment, namely space, brightness and class-leading visibility. But the cabin stands out most of all through its “loft” spirit, with a pared-down atmosphere, top-quality materials and a host of technologies to increase the well-being of motorists, including a fully touch-sensitive driving interface with a panoramic 12-inch high-definition screen and a “Relax” seat for the front passenger.

The concept car previews the new CITROËN C4 PICASSO, set for launch in the second half of 2013.

The model will mark a new phase in CITROËN’s momentum and shake up the codes in the MPV sector with:

- record low CO2 emissions of 98 g/km, achieved through the new Efficient Modular Platform 2 (EMP2) combining efficient architecture and optimised mass;

- all-new proportions blending compact design (L: 4.43m / W: 1.83m / H: 1.61 m), best-in-class cabin space and standard-setting boot capacity (537 litres VDA);

- strong and expressive styling with dynamic lines and high-tech headlamps together with 3D-effect rear lights inspired by the Brand’s latest concept cars.

The CITROËN TECHNOSPACE concept car will be presented at the Geneva Motor Show.

Epoch-changing design

The CITROËN TECHNOSPACE stands out straight away with its astonishing design. It features original proportions, with the wheels set in the four corners of the body, giving it a sharp, energetic and compact look.

The styling of the front end has been upgraded with a more assertive engine compartment and a new design for the chevrons, which extend right across the bonnet to the spectacular, cutting-edge headlamps and their emphatic light signature. The rear lights, inspired by the Tubik, Survolt and Revolte concept cars, feature a deep-set, futuristic 3D effect. The rear end is also enlivened by a new enveloping tailgate denoting roominess and quality.

To underscore these styling assets, the CITROËN TECHNOSPACE is cloaked in new Nuance Anisée body paint, whose satin sheen underlines the concept car’s dynamic, flowing lines.

The atmosphere inside is pared down and informed by a “loft” spirit. This impression is reinforced by the panoramic windscreen and the large glass roof that bathes the car in relaxing natural light.

The loft spirit is also evident in the quality of the cabin materials. A blend of velour leather and mottled

microfiber, the seat and door-panel upholstery suggests comfort and robustness.

The main storage compartments, practical and judiciously laid out, and the boot, with record capacity of 537 litres VDA, are showcased in an ultra-bright “techno” colour.

Technology for well-being

The CITROËN TECHNOSPACE interior is an invitation to well-being designed to make travel a pleasure for each and every passenger.

Journeys become moments of pure relaxation thanks to massaging seats at the front, a “Relax” seat for the front passenger equipped with a comfort extension for the legs, and a “Relax” headrest on all seats for optimum neck support. The CITROËN TECHNOSPACE brings drivers and passengers a business-class travel experience.

The concept car also features a new driving interface that is simple, intuitive, ergonomic and stylish. The purely designed dashboard is built around two screens – a 7-inch touch tablet and a panoramic 12-inch HD screen.

CITROËN ENTERS A NEW ERA WITH ITS TECHNOSPACE CONCEPT

With the Xsara Picasso, C4 Picasso, Grand C4 Picasso and C3 Picasso, Citroën has built a real success story by asserting itself as one of the leaders in the compact MPV segment. Since 1999, the brand has sold almost 3 million Picassos. Now Citroën is entering a new phase in the sector by revealing the CITROËN TECHNOSPACE concept, which points to the brand’s future compact MPV that will be released from the second half of 2013.

A demonstration of Citroën’s ‘Créative Technologie’, the new concept ushers in a new era with:

- A record CO2 emissions level of 98g/km, achieved thanks to the new Efficient Modular Platform 2 (EMP2), which features efficient architecture and minimises weight.

- Multiple technologies for enhanced comfort, including a full-touch driving interface with a high-definition 12’’ panoramic screen.

- Previously unseen proportions that combine compact size (length: 4.43m/width: 1.83m/height: 1.61m) with standard-setting interior space and class-leading boot capacity (537 Litres VDA).

- Strong, expressive design with dynamic lines and high-tech headlamps complemented by 3D-effect tail lights inspired by the latest Citroën concept cars.

- The concept will be revealed at the Geneva Motor Show.
