Gilbert was an early automobile manufacturer founded in 1902 by C.S. Gilbert in St. Joseph, Missouri. The company aimed to produce a four-seater vehicle that featured two auxiliary seats positioned ahead of the driver and passenger, a design reminiscent of certain models produced by De Dion-Bouton.
The vehicle was equipped with a 6-horsepower single-cylinder engine, which had over-square dimensions of 139.7 mm by 114.3 mm. This engine was mounted under the seat and utilized a chain for final drive. Despite Gilbert's efforts to secure financial backing to bring his car into production, he ultimately failed to do so, leading to the company's short-lived existence in the automotive industry.
