Fostoria Light Car Company was established in Fostoria, Ohio, and operated briefly from 1915 to 1916. The company specialized in manufacturing light automobiles, which were characterized by their compact design and efficient performance. The Fostoria was notable for being powered by a 2.1-liter four-cylinder overhead valve Sterling engine.

During its short production run, Fostoria offered four distinct models: a tourer, a roadster, a speedster, and a coupé. By September 1916, the company had produced a total of 293 vehicles. However, the quality of the engines raised concerns, leading Fostoria to switch to using Le Roi engines for their cars. Before any models featuring the Le Roi engine were completed, the company underwent a rebranding, changing both the name of the car and the company to Seneca.
